Rien que pour l’amour des gens

Synopsis:

Jacques (8 years old) and Clémence (5 years old) are two children full of energy and imagination. Béchara (60 years old), their father, is completely absorbed in his paintings, and Sayde (55 years old), their mother, hardly pays them any attention either. Every Sunday, the only warm day of the week, the family hosts important guests, including Michel, a well-known Lebanese Gallerist / Art collector, hoping that he will organize an art exhibition for Béchara at his renowned art gallery in Dubai.

The family members begin to quarrel in an attempt to impress Michel, each in their own way. The father creates a new series of paintings every week (camels, horses, gas stations, palm trees in the desert… everything that could work in the Arab world), while the mother works on her French and cooks traditional Lebanese dishes, desperately wanting to convince Michel and his French wife Viviane to support her in opening a high-end Lebanese restaurant in Paris (at the foot of the Eiffel Tower). The children create grand performances: Jacques dreams of becoming a famous actor like those in Hollywood, while his sister Clémence aspires to be the next Shakira.

From Sunday to Sunday, the parents become exhausted, the children frustrated, the family bonds crumble, the house collapses, and the Sunday warmth fades away.
