Living with a piece of furniture

Synopsis:

Living with a Piece of Furniture is an immersive and hybrid performance that weaves together two narratives.

One portrays an artist, Nicolas’ deceased grandfather, whose soul struggles to exist in the home he once inhabited.

Simultaneously, a comedic narrative unfolds, uncovering crazy yet funny family secrets.
In this part of the performance, Nicolas embarks on a historical mission to assist his 95-year-old grandmother Rafka (who cannot hear well, read or write) in becoming the next president of the Sorority of the Immaculate Conception -Rachana village branch.

His unconventional approach involves gossiping and ruining the reputation of all potential candidates in order to persuade the public to sign a petition urging the bishop to select his grandmother as the next president.

In the end, all spectators, particularly those who sign the petition, are invited to the living room on stage. There, they can engage in more gossip with Nicolas, explore family albums, peruse articles about Nicolas’ grandfather, read intimate diaries and letters, and most importantly, savor the delicious Lebanese tabbouleh Salad that Nicolas prepares on stage.
